Are Dogs Allowed In Dunkin Donuts? [Restaurant Policy Guide]

Nothing quite beats the coffee and donut combination down at Dunkin Donuts. But can you take your dog along with you? Will you be allowed inside while you make, or eat your order? This is what you should know.

So, are dogs allowed in Dunkin Donuts? Dogs are not allowed inside Dunkin Donuts unless they are service dogs. That being said, Dunkin Donut restaurants with patio areas, walk-up windows, and drive-throughs are mostly dog-friendly – these areas will allow you to order with your dog in attendance.

It’s therefore going to depend greatly on where you go.

For some of you reading, it may not be ideal if your local Dunkin’ store does not have outdoor ordering services or eating facilities.

But before we begin to question why Dunkin has taken this stance, just consider this is not their policy, per se.

It’s actually written into health department laws on dogs around food.

Now bear in mind that these laws and rules do differ by state.

But for the most part, restaurants will not allow dogs inside unless they are service dogs (those that work or perform tasks for individuals with disabilities).

Thankfully though, Dunkin’ has made some provisions at most of their locations to ensure that having a dog does not prevent you from visiting, ordering, or eating on-site.

As we shall now see.

Are Dunkin Donuts Dog-Friendly?

Most Dunkin Donut locations are dog-friendly, especially those with outdoor seating areas, walk-up windows, and drive-throughs.

Perhaps the best thing you can do is to check on the location you intend to visit ahead of time.

Dunkin Donuts has a particularly useful store finder tool online which outlines what location has what.

You can filter on those that have Drive Thru’s, Curbside Pickups, and Walk-Up Windows

All of which are going to be dog-friendly.

And if there is a patio, then you will certainly be allowed to eat and drink with your dog by your side.

Dunkin Donuts

It is generally best to do your research on a particular location ahead of time, better yet would be to inquire about their facilities.

Otherwise, you may need to seek out another location altogether.

You want it to be easy to order; which for the most part, it is.

And beyond just the accessibility of food ordering for dog owners, Dunkin’ has routinely introduced promotional menu items for dogs specifically too!

For instance, most Dunkin locations offer ‘Cup For Pup’ (or Puppy Latte), a four-ounce cup of specially designed whipped cream.

Sometimes it’s free, other times you will be asked for a small donation, usually $1, for the Childhood Foundation.

Beyond this, Dunkin has also collaborated on two occasions to offer a treat dispensing dog toy at some of their participating restaurants.

You can read more about it on the companies website here!

While these toys were only available for a limited time and while stocks lasted, it does give us an insight into the fact that people do tend to take their dogs down to a Dunkin.

Finally

Dunkin Donuts is one of the more dog-friendly restaurant chains.

While you won’t be allowed inside, unless you have a service dog, most locations have other means for ordering which means you don’t need to.

And if they don’t, it’s probably best to go to one that does.

Better yet would be to seek out a Dunkin with a patio area.

That way you should be able to order at the walk-up window and enjoy your order seated with your dog by your side.

Failing that there’s always the drive-thru!
