As the name suggests, this is another brush that was designed with poodle-hybrid breeds in mind, like your dear Cavapoochon.
And it’s a great brush, too, with many favorable reviews from previous customers.
But here are the problems I see:
- It’s expensive (over 3x the price of the PetEd slicker)
- It’s large (making it difficult to use on a dog as small as the Cavapoochon, especially around the face.
It’s just more suitable for a Goldendoodle or a poodle-hybrid of that size.
Nevertheless, it is a durable brush and a good option to consider:

What Type Of Brush Is Best For A Cavapoochon?
Slicker brushes are the best type and design of brush for Cavapoochons and other similar poodle-hybrid breeds.
Now I don’t know how much time you’ve had to research on brushes and your dog’s coat thus far.
So I’ll quickly summarize what you need to know.
Not all brushes are designed for all dogs.
Some brushes work best on coats that shed. Other brushes are best for coats that are non-shedding (enter the Cavapoochon).
For non-shedding breeds with hair, slicker brushes are perfect.
That’s because they are designed to brush through curly/wavy coats. Those prone to matting and knots that form.
They do a great job at removing said knots/matts and doing so in a safe, comfortable manner.
Plus, these brushes are designed to collect hair as you brush, making the process easier allthewhile.
How Do You Brush A Cavapoochon?
Brushing a Cavapoochon simply requires a firm yet gentle approach, being sure to brush through all areas of the coat – from leg to face.
In regards to the motion – brush in toward your dog (and not toward you).
Be mindful of your dog’s coat; if you encounter a matt or a tangle, gently work through it, brushing it out before you move on.
Be careful around sensitive areas, too. Such as the underbelly or around the eyes on the face.
It’s a good idea to work on one body part at a time, so you don’t forget to brush anywhere.
Legs, back, and face (in that order) works well.

When To Brush Your Cavapoochon
The best time to brush your Cavapoochon is when you can get them to sit still and remain relaxed.
That could be after a long walk, or it could be in the evening after a long hard day.
Some of you reading may even find early in the morning is just as good a time, too.
Ultimately, so long as you can brush without causing your dog distress or where they will fidget, the better it will be for both you and your dog alike.
How Often Should You Brush A Cavapoochon?
You should look to brush your Cavapoochon little and often. Daily is preferable, though every other day should suffice.
That being said, it will ultimately come down to the condition of your Cavapoochon’s coat.
And a lot of this has to do with how long it is and how frequently it has been brushed.
Generally, the shorter the coat and the more frequently it is brushed, ironically, the less it needs to be brushed.
So, keep on top of it.
Have a regular schedule, so you don’t forget or put it off.
Otherwise, just make sure you get around to it to ensure knots, tangles, or matts do not take hold.
That will be uncomfortable for your dog, and they are a challenge to remove.
And a word of warning; if your dog’s coat gets too matted, the groomers may even take to shaving it all off.
Not good.
Oh, and one final tip.
Make sure you brush your Cavapoochon soon after getting them. It’s best to brush them regularly from the time that they are a young puppy.
The reasons for this are twofold:
- They get used to the brushing process
- Their coat will grow out optimally.
Finally
If you own a Cavapoochon, one of your essentials is without a doubt going to be their brush.
And when it comes to the type and style, it’s a slicker brush you need.
For the particular make and brand, then you don’t need to overlook the PetEd Slicker.
