How To Come Up With A Name For Your Axolotl
If you do not want to choose one from the list above, that’s fine too!
Below you will find some suggestions of how you can come up with your own unique name for your new pet.
Consider Their Features
Each axolotl is likely to have its own features.
Perhaps it was through an accident, a birth defect, or just something that makes them a little different.
Perhaps consider a name that focuses on that.
Or you could just name them after something quite general, like Gummy in reference to their short, unsharp teeth.
Consider Your Favorite Characters
Have a favorite character in a book or a movie?
Like the idea of naming your salamander after an iconic historic figure?
Well, there are a lot of options here!
You can even do a play on words to make it really stand out.
James Pond is a common one here, but why not get a little creative.
Funny or Serious?
Do you want to give your axolotl a serious, traditional name or go for something a little bizarre and entertaining?
Only you can decide but it’s worth considering at the very least.
And be mindful.
Axolotls live for up to 15 years so what may sound funny now may get old quickly.
And if you ever do go to the vet and you need to relay their name, will you be comfortable doing so?
Finally
For me, I like names that start with A.
It just makes sense to me. It has a ring to it.
Or go for something quite amusing.
Met-Morpheus – a play on metamorphosis which these salamanders do not go through.
Funny huh
But ultimately, it’s up to you.
And if you cant choose.
Just write your favorite down and pick one out of a hat!
