Here, you’ll be able to start contacting around and finding out where your future Yorkie, may currently be.

United Yorkie Rescue

Not a Michigan state organization, but one that regularly lists Yorkshire Terriers across the United States. It’s worth checking to see if any Yorkies are listed for adoption at the time of your search, or contacting directly:

Michigan Animal Rescue League

The Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) is one of southeast Michigan’s most established animal shelters – they have a number of dog breeds up for adoption.

Again, while they may not have a Yorkshire Terrier available at the time of your search, it is worth checking and registering your interest:

Yorkshire Terrier Club of South East Michigan

Mutt Haven Pet Rescue

This organization provides listings from independent Yorkshire Terrier owners looking to rehome their pets.

You can run a search on the state of Michigan:

In reality, there are not too many Yorkie Rescues in Michigan.

But do not let that stop you; there are certainly some to reach out to, and there are a number of organizations you can contact who can help you along the way.

For instance, the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America has a representative in Michigan who would be happy to help.

Of course, there is always the alternative of going through a site like, and putting a filter on the Yorkshire Terrier breed and within a relatively close distance to Michigan. This filter, for instance.

Either way, I wish you all the best in your pursuit to find your next dog.

And if anyone reading does feel that I missed a Michigan shelter off the list that deserves its place here, just let me know.
