Are you a resident of Ohio looking to adopt a Doberman?
Well, you’re going to need to be aware of the rescues in the state to be able to do so.
This directory guide will show you all of your different options, along with giving you the contact information should you want to make some inquiries.
Onto the rescues!
Hand Me Down Dobes
Hand Me Down Dobes is the oldest and largest purebred Doberman rescue in Ohio. It is based in Columbus.
Since its inception, this rescue has been dedicated to rehabilitating and placing this wonderful breed into loving, forever homes.
All dogs that come into the rescue are provided with thorough veterinary screening, given necessary vaccinations, spayed/neutered, microchipped, put on worm/flea preventatives, and will have any medical issues seen to.

Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center
Franklin County Dog Shelter is a government-supported rescue based in Columbus, Ohio.
While not an outright Doberman Pinscher rescue, they do have this breed available for adoption fairly regularly.
You can use their website filtering system to look for Dobermans on their ‘available dogs’ page.
Certainly worth checking.

Humane Society of Greater Dayton
As the name suggests, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton serves Dayton and surrounding areas in Ohio.
Again, this shelter does not specialize in any one breed but has been rescuing dogs for over 115 years!
They have reasonable adoption costs of between $200-$300 and offer a foster-to-adopt option to ensure you get the right dog for your family.
While they do not always have Dobermans available at the time of the search, they routinely rehome this breed.

Finally
If you are looking for a Doberman in Ohio; then you have two main rescues to primarily contact and liaise with.
You won’t go wrong through either Hand Me Down Dobes or the Doberman Underground Rescue.
Nevertheless, should they not have any dogs suitable for you at the time of your search, do consider the other non-breed specific rescues too.
Sometimes they have dogs available – so they are always worth getting in contact with.
Register your interest, take your time and be patient with the process.
Ultimately, you want to ensure you get the right dog, and that they can thrive in your care.
